The Bakersfield Republican Women, Federated

Sara Takii Scholarship

In 2015 Bakersfield Republican Women, Federated established a scholarship designed for female students who will graduate, or have graduated, from a high school in Kern County.  The scholarship was named in honor of past president Sara Takii who went above and beyond the call of duty to nurture the Student Advocacy Program.  Our scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to Sara and an opportunity to recognize conservative Kern County young women.

Won't you help us encourage these young women in their continued studies by making a donation to our Scholarship Fund . . .

Download this form and send your check to: PO Box 1564, Bakersfield, CA  93302

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2023 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

HAILY BARNES

ANDERSON UNIVERSITY

JILL SHERMAN

GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY

Congratulations to Haily Barnes for being a recipient of the 2023 Sara Takii Scholarship!  As an accomplished senior at Frontier High School, during her time at Frontier, she has been involved in tennis, varsity cheer, honor society, and Spanish Honor society, in addition to many other committees. Outside of school Haily participates as a volunteer in different organizations.

Haily plans to attend Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina in the fall. She will study nursing and ultimately wants to work in a neonatal intensive care unit. We hope that she has much success as she continues her education. We are so happy that BRWF can be a part of supporting her with our Sara Takii Scholarship. Haily believes that “understanding the political process and being involved is important for the future of our country”. As she works towards her educational goals, we’re sure she will be a“bright light” as a young Republican woman.  We wish Haily success and happiness!

Congratulations to Jill Sherman for being a 2023 Sara Takii Scholarship recipient!  As a senior at Bakersfield Christian High School, Jill is involved in tennis, Bible Club, Pro-Life Club, Red Cross Club, and volunteerism with young athletes. Jill has a passion for the Republican party, and she was excited to be part of the Red Wave Event last fall. More recently she volunteered at the Lincoln Dinner.   She is looking forward to visiting Washington D.C.and meeting Kevin McCarthy with other Lincoln Dinner attendees.

Next fall Jill is attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.  She will major in nutritional science and minor in marketing.  Her goal is to become a registered dietician.  BRWF is so happy to help Jill with her educational goals, and we wish her the best as she pursues her education and as she continues to grow as a strong Republican young woman!
